Teeth cleaning Scaling- Cost

A dentist or dental hygienist at a dental clinic commonly performs teeth cleaning and polishing, also known as “teeth scaling,” as a dental treatment. Scaling will remove plaque and tartar which is full of bacteria from your tooth’s surface. Scaling involves cleaning the areas of the teeth below the gum line. This helps maintain good oral health and prevents gum inflammation in already inflamed gums, which helps eliminate it.

The procedure of teeth cleaning

One can do normal teeth cleaning at home by using a toothbrush and fluoridated toothpaste. But many people tend to miss out cleaning on a lot of areas of the oral cavity. Plaque accumulates and it hardens in 3 days to form calculus. Calculus cannot be removed by a toothbrush. In addition, those who smoke or consume too much-colored food and drink have stains on their teeth. These cant be removed with a toothbrush hence once in a while professional cleaning is mandatory if you want to retain optimum dental hygiene.

At Shangrila Dental Clinic, we use ultrasonic scalers to do teeth cleaning. Ultrasonic scaling instruments clean plaque from the teeth with a vibrating metal tip that chips off the tartar and a water spray to wash it away and keep the tip cool

Scaling causes very little discomfort, so we don’t generally need anesthesia. It is a single visit procedure. However, if you have a severe form of gingivitis or periodontitis, we may suggest additional visits for deep cleaning.

Ideally, after a teeth cleaning appointment, the dentist will remove the bacteria from the gums of the teeth and if the person maintains good oral hygiene in the next few weeks, their gums should become healthier.

Your dentist might prescribe an antibacterial mouthwash, Chlorhexidine to reduce bacteria in your mouth

Correct dental care can help you keep your teeth healthy for a lifetime.
