What is Ialign?
Ialign is an aligner system that was developed in Nepal by Dr.Ujjwal Pyakurel. These are a series of clear aligner system that moves your teeth gradually to your desired position. You have to wear a new set of aligners every fortnight. Aligners are transparent and removable and do not have any brackets or wires like in traditional braces.
Are aligners invisible as claimed?
Teeth aligners are made with thermoplastic polyurethane which is a medical-grade material. These thermoplastic materials are transparent in the visible light spectrum. Most people do not realize that you are wearing aligners until you tell them. The materials used are impact-resistant and highly ductile. It is also biocompatible, and BPA-free.
How long does the clear aligners treatment last in Kathmandu Nepal?
The treatment time depends upon the complexity of the case. A simple case will need fewer aligner sets and treatment can finish in 7months-1 year. A complex case will need many aligners set and treatment can last up to 2 years.
How long should I wear the aligners in a day?
You need to wear your aligners for 22 hours a day. You must wear aligners all the time except to eat, drink, and brush your teeth.
Can I eat and drink with aligners in my mouth? Any food restriction?
The aligners can get distorted because of the temperature of the food or they can break because of the chewing forces. Aligners are easily removable. You should remove them before eating. However, you can drink room-temperature water with it on. Consuming beverages such as dark coffee, tea, soft drinks, or wine without first removing your trays can cause the clear nature of the aligners to become discolored and noticeable to the eye. As long as you take your aligners out to eat and drink anything other than water, and brush your teeth after every meal, you can practically eat what you like. After your meal, you should always rinse and clean your aligners (with cool water) before putting them back in your mouth.
Will the treatment with clear aligners hurt?
Like with any other orthodontic treatment, you will feel a bit uneasy in the beginning. The pain caused by the aligner is temporary, and very few people experience it. You will also feel that your speech has altered a bit. There will be a certain level of pressure which means that the aligners are working. But, you will soon get used to it and it will become comfortable. Aligners themselves do not damage or hurt the teeth or mouth. But, sometimes, the aligner surface can scratch against your gums, you have to inform your aligner provider of this. They will help smoothen out any rough edges.
What is the price of clear aligners in Kathmandu Nepal? Is it costly?
The price of a clear aligner depends on the total sets of aligners needed to bring out the desired tooth movement. The minimum cost is 1.5 lakhs and it can go up to 2.5 lakhs for complex cases. After your first consultation, you will be provided with a personalized quote. If you compare its price to traditional metal braces then yes it is costly but if you compare the cost with other aligner brands, it is less in Kathmandu.
Traditional metal braces vs aligners
Traditional metal braces are a tried and tested way to straighten teeth. However, it has many complications and drawbacks. Traditional metal braces are difficult to clean. You need to brush and flush after each meal. With traditional braces, you cannot eat foods that are hard, sticky, or gummy. Traditional braces are damaged by things that you have to bite into such as apples and corn on the cob. But, with aligners, you can eat and drink whatever you want.
Traditional metal braces are not an esthetic treatment. There are wires and brackets, these are not discreet. For this reason, many people are not comfortable to have it. Also, you need regular monthly appointments to make adjustments with metal braces. With teeth aligners, you can change them on your own and do not need monthly visits to your dentist. However, traditional metal braces are good at treating complex cases. The cost of traditional metal braces is affordable if you compare it to aligners.
